Chesed (Kindness) Committee Projects

Everyone deserves the simple joys that make life meaningful. A cake on your birthday, a new backpack and school supplies in August, a special meal at Thanksgiving…In a community that’s fortunate to have abundance, we can help everyone have these simple pleasures regardless of their current circumstances.

Jewish Family & Children's Service of Long Beach & West Orange County's Chesed Committee would appreciate your support by making a donation to provide both necessities and niceties as the seasons arrive. Here are some examples of the committee's projects:

Thanksgiving Dinners: Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and pie for those families who might otherwise go without a traditional meal. A donation of $30 provides one Thanksgiving meal.

Adopt-a-Family: JFCS clients and their families provide a list of family members, their age and size, and both items they need and items they want as presents during the December holiday season.

Back-to-School Backpacks: Backpacks for elementary, middle and high school students filled with grade-appropriate school supplies according to their school district's lists of needs.

Birthday Boxes: This celebration in a box is filled with cake mix, frosting, baking trays, sprinkles, plates, napkins, decorations, balloons, birthday sign, a Target gift card, etc. Guaranteed to put a smile on the recipient’s face.
